On a HH cover I always try to mix two things.
The spirit of the novel, something biggest than a simple human. And something about the hero(es): his solitude, his fragility, but his strength and his courage too.
As always in the Honorverse, heroes have to face big dangers/choices for them and for their nation.
And I think that we need to see/feel that in a cover.
Have a nice week-end

But i thought that we would better feel the solitude and the fragility of the Hero/Honor if she was alone.
And, at this moment of the story, she feels really alone against a big threat

This is one I really like. Love actually. On Basilisk station is always fun to listen to (Audiobook). Reminds me of my first photo class.
You did a great job on transforming the hull of Fearless into your usual background star map. I can even see the star background on the tiny little out jutting pieces of metal in the upper right corner. Awesome.
The lighting is great, coming from inside the hole blasted into the ship. Give it a more dramatic feeling.
I love the person in the skin suit, it immediately draws attention to it, because it is in the middle of the front cover. The details on the skin suit itself are really nice too.
Basilisk looks great. You really did the planet well on this cover. The 'glow' of planet really stands out against the darker blues and grays which predominate. It make the cover(To me) seem much more lonely and desperate, given that I read Sci-fi all the time and understand just how far gone Fearless was after that duel with Sirius.
Question: (There is only one this time, sorry to disappoint you.
Is this the command deck of Fearless?
I can see all the consoles and that most likely is Honor Harrington in the skin suit. It took me a few times of looking it over to realize that in the bottom right hand corner is a lonely looking chair that resembles a command chair.
Keep up the Great work!
Sincerely,
Caitlyn StarNight
And yes, it's the command deck.
But i hope that i'll have enough time in the future to draw another HQ because i would like to do something more... impressive.
I tried to draw the real planet. Because Mr.Weber described it in his novel so i didn't want to draw something that could be any other planet in the milky way...
In the story the duel takes place far way from the planet. But i wanted to show it because all the story takes place around it. And i thought that it was more efficient to show the character alone in a destroyed spaceship with this planet, which symbolize an hope of rescue. But a hope so far, "inaccessible" (it's the french word because i don't know the right word in english
See you soon
